My 1962 skylark has a 2 speed automatic tranny. Was wondering if they made an overdrive unit or what tranny to swap so I`m not winding out my engine at 55 mph?

How's your acceleration? Maybe a diffent ratio chunk--numerically lower--instead of a transmisison swap?

    Exclamation overdrive

I think the best overdrive unit would be a 200R4. It is strong and 1st gear is lower than first gear in the stock Dual Path trans and you will have an overdrive on the other end. Kennedy Engineering, in Palmdale, CA has the necessary adapter plate. Other things that will have to be done are: 1 Make a new larger trans tunnel. 2. Install a trans cooler, the stock trans in air cooled. 3. Modify the driveshaft. 4. Hookup the necessary TV cable etc. I'm sure there will be other things to do, but the above are the main issues. When done it will launch real quick and have a nice cruising speed.
