Scotty got his start back in the 70s hot rodding and racing Buick Electras. i'm sure he'd have some good tips for those full size cars.

i know one trick that worked on a 73 Electra ( which is the design generation just AFTER yours, 1971-76 ):
the drive shaft has two CV joints.
the 455 block has three holes in the mounting bosses, and the big cars use the rear two holes ( mounting the engine more forward ).

IF you convert one of the CV joints into a normal U-joint it shortens up the drive shaft ~3".

this just so happens to be almost exactly equivalent to the spacing differential if you mount the engine with the FRONT two holes ( giving you engine backset ). a few minor modifications to trans linkage, x-member, cooling lines, etc and you're good to go.

it's a cheap and sleazy way to get better weight balance out of the car.

i'm not sure that a trick i used on a 1973 C-body car is going to work on a 1970 B-body car but it's worth looking at.
