    cracked block

Hi I'm looking for advice on the best method of repairing a crack surrounding the inner starter mounting boss on a 1971 455 block , any success on either welding or stitching ? Thanks in advance

With out seeing it, it is not possible to give accurate advise.

I prefer either alloy spray welding or a ni-rod stick weld. Pre and post heating is what determines most of the success of the weld.

Some water jacket welds would require to have the whole block brought up to temperatures like 750+ to be successful, yours sounds simpler than that.
