1957 to 1959 oil pump swap.

They are similar. Has anyone put a 59 oil pump in a 57? Russ Martin at Centerville makes the claim that 59 is better.

Having now been made aware that the 57/58 pump has a vacuum aspect to it, I would suggest that the only reason for using it is probably a restoration where you are going to be using the vacuum accessories, it will mostly effect the windshield wipers, but, they will work without the assistance of the pump ( from engine vacuum ). If it is going in anything other than a restored car, or if the wipers are going to be upgraded to electric, then I would follow Russ' advice and use the '59 pump.
