    1966 LeSabre Centre Link

    Hi Folks,
    I'm needing some help.
I have a '66 LeSabre and it looks like the centre link is worn out.
I'm in Australia, and I've ordered just about every other steering part I need, but I'm having trouble finding a centre link (for a reasnable price too)
There are a few places in the US that offer a refurbishment service, but that's of no use as the cost of getting the part there would be too much.

I've seen the exchange ones at Kanter and other places for around $300, so I'm really hoping not to pay that much, especially with the Aussie dollar being as bad as it is on exchange rate, and again, an exchange item isn't really practicle.

If anyone can help and suggest a business that may have what I need, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
    Tinny.

This is one of those parts that has become very hard to find and has almost no crossover to other models. Seems like it should be common considering how many LeSabres were made. See attached string from last year.

The ideal solution would be to lean on a big retailer like NAPA to have one of the original manufacturers run off a batch of a few hundred to satisfy demand for several years. There's guy in a national Plymouth club who is good at this. He samples demand among the members then convinces NAPA to stock up on an item like their early post-war water pump. When they get scarce again, he repeats the process.

    Thanks Todd

If I was in the US, I'd probably just get mine refurbished or get an exchange one, but that's going to be a last option.
In the mean time, I've been intouch with a shop in Sydney that may be able to refurbish my part.
Fingers crossed, and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Tinny your in luck if your LeSabre has power steering. I found this item on eBay. It's new not rebuilt and requires no exchange. It's also TRW which is as good or better than OE. I couldn't even guess what shipping would be to you. In case the link doesn't work for you it is item number: 223127918173. Best of luck. - Bill

    Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I'll have a look.
I should know later today if the rebuild on mine will work, if not I'll contact the seller..
