    Trip odometer reset

    Hi Folks,

I wanna know if it's possible to reset the trip odometer on a 1942 Buick Special and how to do that, please ?

I don't find any button or lever on the dashboard ... And nothing else in Shop manual ...

    Thank You for answer !

    Reset

Get your head up under the dash. You should be able to see a small cable hanging from the bottom of the speedometer, with a turn button on the bottom of it.

    Reset

    Hello Ben,

    Thank You for answer !

I do what you say but, i just find an empty hole underneath the dash board; i think, the cable you told, would be pass through ?

So, i will tell a new question : can i easily open the dash board to get access on the rear side of the speedometer so that i can control if this cable is already present or not ?

    Hope i read you soon...

The kicker is the word easily. The answer is no - not easily. Yes, it can be done using a very slender blade screwdriver (about 3/16" or so). You will have to hit the cable recess, then push upwards, and twist. You are way better off to buy the cable. Waaay better off.
