    Cast number on block

My 300 has a casting mark on right side of block ( passenger ) in the center just below where the head sits. They are 052 then just below that ML. I know what the ML is what is the 052 ?
Ok I think I found out the answer in my manual, engine code number? Now another question what is a engine code number mean ?

Cast numbers are raised, but I think you are referring to stamped numbers, in which case the two letters are the engine production code and the three numbers are a build date code.
