Greatings from WI ! Is this car worth buying?

    I came across a 50 Roadmaster sedan.

The frame, fenders, and trunk are really clean. As in it's all there and not eaten through with rust.
Its got a straight 8, which apparently ran 5 years ago.
It does have some broken side glass, but the curved front and rear glass look good.
Though the interior is gone, I do have a good buddy who has an Apulstry shop, which said he could help me with.

The trim all seems to be there, but I'm not super familiar with these cars.

For $1500, is it worth getting back on the road?
I know it's a big project and you never get your money worth, but is this a good deal?
I'm not looking for a full restoration project, just something I can get on the road and drive with the family on the weekends.

$1500 is probably getting down around scrap yard prices now a days. those Straight 8s are pretty damn heavy.

one thing to keep in mind about these old Buicks is that they use a torque ball driveshaft and closed rear suspension ( effectively making the trans part of the suspension ) so if you've got plans for an engine or trans swap you're probably better off stealing the entire frame and driveline from a donor car that's got close to the same wheelbase and just sitting the Buick body down on top of it.

the narrow Buick engine bay is going to restrict your engine options for swaps. otoh, a turbo 5.9L Cummins could be fun.

Naw, I was thinking about leaving everything original equipment, no engine or transmission swapp.

Are parts still available? Could I overhaul the original brakes, or is it generally recommend to swap them for disk brakes?
