    55 322 Engine Block

    Hi all. My brother and I are neck deep in restoring a 1955 Roadmaster. Car is gutted, just short of body off the frame. We are about to pursue machine shops, chrome vendors, paint vendors etc. So I'll begin showing up on here a lot. I have good mechanical skills, and willing to learn more, but I do not have the level of experience that this calls for. So, looking forward to working with the experts here. First set of questions. I'm focused on planning out the engine requirements and finding the right machine shop to work with. We are in the Dallas Tx., area to references in this location please. I'm already stuck in that I'm not finding my engine block number on the lists I've been researching. It's 11506787 (stamped on left cylinder bank). Any idea's why this is not listed? Thanks.

    The stamped engine serial number decodes as follows:

    11506787 = engine serial number

    1150678 = sequential number, range for 1955 was V720080 to 1460022
    (V prefix dropped after engine number 1,000,000 reached in 1955)

    7 = Series 70/Roadmaster

    Looks to be correct for a 1955 Roadmaster engine.
