    St-300 whine

Hi, my st-300 in my 66 lark makes a whining noise in park and neutral. I have seen videos of othe cars with st-300s idling and some don’t whine and some do. Does anybody know why this would happen? Thanks.

It is usually the front pump. If the fluid level and condition are normal, and it shifts OK, I'd drive it.

Yes. Fluid level is fine and it shifts good. It performs as it should and I have has had a whine since I got it and have driven it about 2000 miles with no problems.

I had the same problem in mine and it turned out to be a stripped shaft on the front pump
