Smile A whole SQUADRON of Buicks!

    Greetings from Denton TX!
I grew up in a Buick family, and have liked them all my life. I drove a '76 turbo Regal for my family car and at the same time drove a '53 Super Riviera to work. I just retired, and it seems that I can't resist a good Buick deal. I've got 2 Roadmaster wagons, a 93 Roadmaster sedan, ugly but it runs great, two '47 Roadmaster sedans, one of which is about to go into a rotisserie and get an LS transplant, and also an original, unrestored (barn find) 1939 Century Phaeton convertible. I'm told it is one of only 249 made. I'm almost finished with my retirement 40x60 "mancave," and have enough projects to last me for about 300 years.
If you're in the area come and see me!

    A whole SQUADRON of buicks

1976 was the first year of the turbo charged V6. It was actually used in the 76 Buick Indy Pace Car.

it was used in the 76 Indy Pace Car, but was that actually available for sale?

BeforeBlack says that the turbo didn't go to production until 78.

the 76 brochure says that it's the year Buick brings back the v6. so, unlikely that the factory would have also jumped straight to production turbo.

    A whole SQUADRON of buicks

1976 Buick Centery pace cars were available with a V8 & V6 turbo. V8 graphics started at the front of the front fender on the side of the car Turbo V6 the graphics started at the front of the drivers door. None if the production cars offered bucket seats with a council instead they had split bench seat from the Sport Coupe line. Only 4 Indy Pace cars were produced with the bucket seat and council option. So is it possible to have a Regal Sport Coupe with a special ordered Turbo V6. Yes at that time it still was. Its probably a 1 of 1 built but back than you could still order any motor in any car.

    weird.

    Buick promotional material says non-turbo.

    exact wording is:
"It also has Buick's spirited 3.8 litre v6 engine. Which is the same basic power plant we use in the official pace car. Minus the turbocharger, of course. "

"No, the replicas aren't turbocharged like the original."

this also agrees with our engine spec page which shows first availability of the turbo 6 in 78.

i'm not saying you're wrong, i'm just saying i'm not seeing any documentation for this.
