Working on the electrical of a 1956 Special for a friend. It has a 322cid/dynaflow with a Carter WGD 2bbl carburetor (#2400S). The owner would like to retain the throttle press-down start feature. The accelerator vacuum switch/start switch is cracked in several places and is completely unusable. From what I gather (I could be wrong), the Rochester 4bbl option for this model year installed the same switch as the Carter 2bbl. Through an internet search I came up with a Delco-Rochester 7011372 part number. I can't be 100% sure this part is correct as it's not a Delco, Delco-Remy or Delco-Carter(?) number.
Does anyone know the part number for the accelerator vacuum switch/start switch for the Carter 2bbl?
Does anyone know where I could find a NOS or a reproduction replacement switch?
The 7011372 part no for switch kit fits only 1957-60 models. It was superceded by Buick part no 1179345. The kit for late '55 - '56 Carter series 40 2-bbl carbs is 1172257.
If just the starter switch terminal cap is bad, that was available separately as no 1346587. This part crossed over into some models from earlier years. See attached pages from the 1963 Buick Master Chassis Parts Book.
The part nos. don't line up with what TODD mentions, but the image is suspiciously the same, and on down the page, there are a couple of 2bbl carbs with switches. One is NOS! and not badly priced for a carb with switch, Unfortunately they are for '55 and earlier
