    55 oil leak

The area mentioned makes it sound like your head gasket is leaking. I know Felpro head gaskets along with some other cheaper gaskets do to the oil holes not matching. If the head surface isn't smooth or straight it can also cause it to leak. If you can tuck a piece of white paper towel between the head and the block that would help you out.

    Jnelson,
Thanks for the info. Will pull hood tomorrow and get a better look. If I see it leaking at the block/head area I'll pull the head and install a new head gasket.

    Mike,

Put the seal in the mail yesterday, 3/31/18. Should receive it by Tues. 4/3/18. Please let me know when it arrives & if you understand the directions??

If you find the rear of the head is leaking I have a fix for that also which DOES NOT require the pulling of the head.

    Post 55 buick oil leak

    Hi Everyone,
I want to thank everyone for trying to help with this darn oil leak.
Well I replaced the rope seal with the neoprene seal from Tom. I still have an oil leak. Now I think it may be coming from the oil filter mounting bracket. Will remove it Monday and see if I have a cracked housing.
I've tried everything else. So this seems to be my last solution before pulling the engine and placing it on a run stand to look for the leak. Wish me luck and pray that this is my problem.

Have you checked the lifter valley cover for a leak? My 55 had a leak similar to yours and the oil was traveling across making it look like the valve cover was leaking.
