    1966 riviera paint code

Can someone tell me what the "XX Riviera white" paint code is?

  2. #2
    X is the paint color.

XX means that the roof and body are the same color and that you do not have a two tone car and you also didn't have a vinyl roof. most paint codes are shown this way. if you had something like "X2", that would denote a vinyl or convertible top color.

    1966 riviera paint code

    Thanks Bob,
I guess I didn't make clear what I am looking for.
Isn't there a code that a paint shop uses to mix the paint according to the GM Riviera "X" code?
In other words if I took my car to a paint shop and said I wanted to repaint it the same as the original "X" code how would they know how to mix the paint>
What is the difference between the "C" Artic white and the "X" Riviera white?

the reference page shows Arctic as being slightly more beige than the Riv White, but you have to be extremely careful with computer displays. you can shift apparent tints an amazing amount by playing with monitor settings.

i'm also not sure how a metal flake paint would show up.

i would expect most automotive paint shops to have a cross reference to hand, although 50 years out is getting pretty old.

i know there were one or two 'old paint' specialists but i don't remember what they were and i don't seem to have them bookmarked.

if somebody else here can't give you a reference, check with either RivOwners.org or the AACA forums.

    1966 riviera paint code

    Thanks Bob,
I guess I will look at it this way: Riviera white is "very white" as opposed to "off white".

One of my favorite websites--they can mix to old specs. I used them once for a 67 Buick blue in Lacquer.

    Thank you Ted,
I checked the web site. It is exactly what I was looking for. Got their paint code and bookmarked their site for future use.
