1. Can a rope seal be replaced with the modern type seal from T/A without pulling the crank? I purchased a good running engine and was going to do a cam swap, intake, and gaskets while it's on the stand and was hoping to install the rear main while I'm at it, but I don't want to pull the crank.....
2. Anyone have a good used aluminum intake?
Thanks
I know this is an old thread but ill answer it anyway. the TA seal is just a ford 300 2 piece seal. it fits but the problem is it rides the crank too hard and wears out quickly. Ask me how i know. lol. the best solution i found is to use a Cadillac 500 2 piece seal. You have to file each half down so when you set it in the main cap one end sticks out past the cap .020 and the other end is flush. Only file one side of each half. If you look at the seal you'll see one end is flat and the other is on an angle. file the flat end on each one. mine has been in for 5 years. no leaks at all.
