1962 Wildcat master cyl replace problem

Car stored now running. Had to replace master cyl. Cylinder came off but piston came out of cyl and remains firmly protruding from vac unit. Can't tell what's holding it & do not want to cause damage. Anyone with knowledge of this AC Delco unit ??

That piston is part of the booster. You need to get a shop manual. Will save tons of time in learning & possibly destroying something in the process.
