Do any of you know if the 320 straight eight will crank and run if the distributor is out 180? This old girl is fighting at every opportunity. She cranks and idles, exhaust sounds good, but she doesn't want to take the gas, and coughs through the carb. Dwell and timing set to specs. Any advice would be appreciated.
No engine will run 180* out, the spark would occur on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke. If the engine coughs back through the carburetor, that indicates it is lean. Check for vacuum leaks or a bad accelerator pump.
