    Question Power Steering hose removal

'73 Buick Riviera: How do I remove the nut on the pressure hose of the steering pump at the steering sector? Looks like an aluminum cover is on the sector which is raised around the nut, preventing access with an open-end wrench.

we have the 1971 and 75 chassis manuals which should cover those procedures in detail.

so far as your particular situation is concerned, why are you insisting on doing this with an "open end wrench"? why aren't you using a socket and ratchet?

if you're going to work on cars, you're going find that a socket set is indispensable. occasionally you will have 4pt or 12pt nuts ( which both require a 12pt socket ), but i would get a 6pt set first. it's way too easy to round the head off of a hard set bolt or nut ( which you're going to see a lot of on a +40 year old car ) using 12pt sockets. also, a couple of socket extensions.

if you get a 6pt and 12pt socket set at the same time, you can use the 12pt sockets on the easy nuts and bolts for your duplicate size socket if you're working both ends of a nut / bolt set that use the same size.
