    71 skylark engine problems

    Hi every just bought a 71 skylark 350 4 barrel car it idles just fine but as soon as I hit the gas it sputters and back fires what should I try first?

    since you're having problems with a new-to-you purchase, you should probably just go ahead and do the full tune up procedure, which Buick recommends for every 12,000 miles.

    that's group 69.

    a carb rebuild wouldn't be a bad idea either, a bad accelerator pump would cause the engine to lean out when you hit the gas.
