I have a 52 Buick Model 59. My driver's door was starting to require semi aggressive slamming to get it to shut. I compared it to the other doors and the striker on the pillar looked in great shape. The lock bolt that fits into the striker also looked good. Comparing a working door to my drivers door I discovered that there is a "wheel" that fits over the lock bolt and it turned on the good door but was semi stuck on the driver's door. I sprayed some silicone on the wheel and worked it in and got it spinning again. I shut the door gently and it now closes with no slamming. This saved buying a lot of expensive parts. This door latching system was used by Buick from the late 1940's to well into the 1950"s. I just love to gently shut the door and it sounds like a Buick bank vault door. Chevys and Fords just can not compare with Buick quality!
