When my pump blew the give away was the horrible squealing sound and the fluid spraying in the engine compartment.
Good to know about the rust colored dust
Hey, Tony
That brown dust is indicative of the pulley being loose. I doubt it will fix itself.

Ben was spot-on. The nut was not tight at all. I've tightened it as best I can with a shifter and pushing the belt down for grip. Probably not good enough but will do better next week.
I've cleaned the dust off and will keep a look out.
Thanks

Glad to be of help, Tony.
Where downunder? I know a couple fellows from out west that are Buick guys. Spent a couple years in Brisbane a lifetime ago.
Educate me. What is a shifter? I know your spanner to our wrench. Words are fun.

I live in Sydney's Northern Beaches area.
Shifting spanner is what you call an adjustable wrench I guess.
I may know the guys, what are their names?

Gotcha!
Sturet Syme, I believe is how it is spelled. I do not remember the others name. They came by my house in 2013 and saw them again at the National Meet. Nice guys.
Ben
I know Stuart Syme and saw him at a recent National Meet in Victoria. You may seem him in the pictures in this album.
