Can anyone tell me if the top chrome grille surround (which finishes the top of the grille and below the hood) is the same for my 57 Buick special as it is for a Roadmaster or Super.Someone mentioned the width is different. Thankyou Lawrence
Thanks for the reply Todd, yes it is the radiator grille frame I'm referring to,so does this mean the hood is also wider on the Super and Roadmaster or where is the extra width.I have a chance to purchase a grille frame from a Super or Roadmaster and the seller says it's off a wide body so I guess it's not going to fit my Special.
Yes the hood panels have different part numbers on the senior C body cars vs. the junior B bodies. The overall vehicle widths are different as well. The given width on a Special is 74.9" vs. 77.6" on a Super or Roadmaster.
Looking at some old eBay ads for these parts, they give a width of 64.25" for the smaller grille frame and 67" for the larger one. So the difference in vehicle width matches the difference in grille frame width.
The old ads also show the part number is cast into the backside of the grille frame.
