1967 GS400 Has Muncie with Hurst Shift Handle

    Hey Guys,
maybe someone here can shed some light on this for me. My 1967 GS400 has an original 4 speed Muncie with a Hurst T handle shifter. Did the 4 speed GS400's come with that handle as an option? I've seen a lot of pictures of 1967 GS400 4 speeds online with the exact same shifter leading me to believe this is something that came on the car. Attached is a picture of the specific handle I'm asking about.
    Thanks,
    Josh

Buick Master Parts Books from '70 and '72 show only two shift knobs for the '67 GS 400 4-spd. Both are round plastic. Both were used on late-'65 thru '67 models. See attached page from the '72 book.

Part # 384568 has no markings, set screw, or lock nut. It was used on 4-spd applications using a consolette and on all 3-spd floor shift units. The emblem on the consolette provides the shift pattern.

Part # 384569 has the 4-spd shift pattern and a set screw for correct alignment. This one came on 4-spd cars without the consolette.

The press release announcing the Hurst T-handle (see attachment) is dated 12/5/66. This was well into the '67 model year. So my guess is it was a hot item to add onto the new '67 cars.

Since it does not appear in parts books and is too new to have been original equipment on '65s, the T-handle would not have come from the Buick factory.
