    looking for tech specs for a 425 engine of a 1963 Riviera

    Hi,
    I just rebuild a 425 engine out of my 1963 Riv. Neither my original shop/chassis manual nor the electronical one on CD has the specs (clearences, fits, adjustments..) - only the stuff for a 401 are described.
    The best I found is the data of a 1966 425 engine on this site.
    Does anyone have a better idea? Or have a shop manual including the 425?
    Or didn't change anything through 63 -> 66?

    Thx
    Robert

    Virtually everything is the same between the 401 and the 425. The list you saw on this site covers both the 401 and the 425 and shows both when specifications differ.

    There is a 1966 Chassis Manual which includes the 425 here: https://www.teambuick.com/reference/...ssis/index.php

    Thanks - this helped me much.
    My engine shop started the rebuild with this data today ....

    But still the question: does anybody out there own a shop/chassis manual prior to the 66 (63/64/65) Buicks with the 425 engine data in it?

    Regards

    The 425 was introduced midway into the '63 model year. As a result it came out too late for inclusion in the '63 shop manual. The service bulletin on the introduction is attached.

    Also attached are the engine spec pages from the '64 shop manual including a service bulletin correcting the main bearing journal diameter in the '64 shop manual. There are some notes throughout the chapters noting unique features of the 425. I also have the '65 shop manual and '63 to '65 service bulletins if needed.

    The 1940-63 Master Chassis Parts manual dated July 1, 1963 does cover the 425 and variations in part numbers. The '72 version shows the few changes in the 425 from '63 to '66. The '72 version was obtained free online from the wildaboutcarsonline.com site. Sometimes it won't permit access however.
