No clue unless the rebuilder clocked it wrong. The nose cone has to clear the ring gear and bolt holes lined up.
Hello Buick Buddies! got my Delco Remy starter rebuilt in my 63 Skylark with the 215 ,now i am having a dickens of a time getting it reinstalled ,is there a special way/procedure to put it back in having great diffculty getting the snout to go into the mount! any and all help would be always,and greatly appreiciated! thanks in advance,Kens63

There is no way to clock it wrong.Are you sure you got YOUR unit back? The Corvair starter looks real similar to an untrained eye,maybe they gave you a replacement?
