The J indicates 1963. The first 7 indicates engine came from a Riviera. It could be a 401 or 425 cid.

What has been, can be again. (Bob Wills, 1942)
The 63 Riv engine was originally painted silver. There is a two letter production code across fro the serial number on the passenger side of the same surface. It will be followed by a three number date code: JT = 401, JW = 425. There were not many 425s in 63. So I would guess it is a 401.
