    Projects, Journals and Blogs...

We had a program called "Garage" for a while, it crashed and is now gone. It was pretty nice, but became outdated and was unsupported. We tried "Rides". It did not seem to catch on. We still have an image Gallery, but it is not a very organized program.

We still have the "Journals" or blog hidden away. Here is a link so that you can have a look at it to refresh you memory: https://www.teambuick.com/forums/blog.php

Here is a link to the Journals in the forums: https://www.teambuick.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?156-Projects-and-Journals

At least temporarily you will find the "Rides" here: https://www.teambuick.com/forums/vbrides.php

    And the Gallery here: https://www.teambuick.com/forums/albumall.php?
    or https://www.teambuick.com/forums/picall.php?

I closed it because there seemed to be too many people coming on the site and instead of going to the forum and posting a question, they went and started a blog and asked a question. That was all... There were only a few good blogs. I thought it might be better to just use a forum for the journal or blog. It does much the same thing and puts it on the forum page where it is easier to see and understand.

Just to show how confused I am, I am now wondering if we should reopen the "Journal" or blog and maybe call it garage. Then try to encourage people to upload pictures of their cars and projects there.

Posting this because I am looking for input

The people that used the Journals and Blogs correctly added some very good content and experience to the site over time. I don't think that kind of information would happen in a forum thread very often. But, I have no idea how to keep Journals and Blogs clear of clutter and forum questions. Is it possible to post a large description/instruction/warning of what that area is for when you click on it the first time?

I think both have users that have made good entries. I am not even certain which format I prefer.

I have added a poll and links to the first post so that anyone can have a look at the formats of the various options.

well, you COULD actually have a sub-forum for user builds. we've had a couple of people post their builds on the forum as it is.

    Woops

You must just use the front page or the "What's New", when I closed the Blog/Journal, I did make a Forum for "Journals", that is why there are some builds being posted there.

I liked that because it did place that part of the site right in the forum and it placed the postings on the front page and the "What's New". I also had a link near the top of the page to the old location.
