i have a 1956 buick that im restoring for my wife and i have rebuilt the carb (2 brl carter) with a kit that i got online and it had ethonal safe parts in it so im not worried about that but my question revolves around the use of regular unleaded gas in this. i have heard conflicting things about using a lead additive , some say use it and others say that it isnt needed in the nailhead .what say the experts?

ok thank you for the info that explains it!
Lead additive is probably not needed in a nailhead for valve seat protection. The tech article addresses detonation and carbon build up. For all their faults the modern fuels including E-10 burn cleaner and ethanol is an octane booster. I use 87 octane winter and 89 octane summer in mine.
