you could get a dual pattern carb spacer and then you could use both spread bore ( quadrajet ) and square bore ( Holley ) carbs interchangeably.

your car has a 750cfm Quad on it, 1972+ 455 big blocks had 800cfm quads. that's still factory though and doesn't really answer your question.

    Carb

No I don't want duel carbs just 1 that's pretty much bolt it on and go
    Edelbrock 650 over holly 650 ?
Also in Colorado and 750 it to much for our higher altitude

i said "dual pattern" not "twin carb intake".

you can only mount one carb at a time, it's just that the spacer has both square and spreadbore patterns on it, centered on each other.

You don't mention why you are wanting a different carb, other than you seem to think it may not be suitable for high elevation, if so, I believe you are mistaken or have been misled.

I would stick with the original and have it rebuilt. It was designed specifically for that motor, and you will not find an aftermarket carb that will bolt on and go as well as the original in good condition.

The Rochester has vacuum secondaries and will only pull the required cfm so elevation will not make a difference. The elevation can make a difference in the jetting. That will be a problem with whatever aftermarket carb you put on too. In order to have that changed for higher elevation you should take it to a carb builder or tune up expert of some sort. I would suggest finding a specialist.

In my opinion a 650cfm carb is too small for a 430 despite what you may find in the charts.

If there is some problem with the original, I would seek out a good Rochester Quadrajet as a suitable replacement. They are great from an economy and performance aspect.

    430 carb

bob that helps and thank you. the reason is no one around me seems to know how to rebuild a older carb
i may have to ship it to some one out of state , if that is the case any recommendations on who ? that is trust worthy
and will do the work in a timely matter with out charging more than a new bolt on
