    1937 Roadster 40

I just acquired a 1937 Buick Roadster in prestine condition from my fatherinlaw. Nice guy eh? Can anyone tell me what viscosity oil I should use. Does the straight eight have an oil folter?

Here's the pages from the shop manual on the engine oiling system. This was before the introduction of multi-viscosity oils.

As originally built the engine did not have an oil filter. The floating screen on the oil pump inlet was thought to give adequate filtering. A filter could have been added sometime later. A later engine having a filter could have been swapped out as well.

Man you're lucky. Wish I had a fatherinlaw like that. Mine only gives me headaches.
