Hi from the beautiful mountains of Colorado

I acquired a 1963 Willys Station Wagon recently. It has a transplant V6 engine. I know Buick sold the casting rights to Kaiser in 1967. My question is how do I determine if this is a Kaiser manufactured engine or a GM manufactured engine. The casting number on the intake manifold above the bell housing is B-1376389-D and the block number is K130023. The engine is all cast iron. From reading identification methods this appears to be a 225 ci engine. The distributor is on the front side of the engine and tilted toward the drivers side. I would also like to know what year it was manufactured. Thank You

    which a 1967 v6 engine should be.

the 231ci didn't exist until Buick introduced the 350ci in 1968. previously, the 225 had used the bore of the 340ci and the stroke / deck height / bore of the 300ci ( 225 being 6/8 of 300 ). once the 300ci and 340ci were retired in 1968, the v6 was bumped up to 350s larger bore and that's where the extra 6 cubes comes from.

this allowed the v6s to be sent down the same machining lines as the small block v8s.

a GM engine should have a two letter engine code stamped on the deck of the block between the #1 and #3 spark plugs. that will tell you year and application.

and Buick v6 from 1967 should be stamped 'NH'.

    the block number is K130023

IF this is a partial GM VIN, the K would designate a Kansas City, MO car and the last 6 digits would match the VIN of the car it came out of.

in 1967 the VIN did not code the engine that the car was equipped with, beyond the odd numbered series indicating a 6 cylinder car.
