Lightbulb Having to add fuel to carburetor to start engine

I have a problem for the experts. I had the carburetor from my 61 Buick Lesabre cleaned and installed carburetor kit. Prior to this the car would start at any time, wether it was one week or two days. Now i have to add gasoline to the carburetor to get it started and then im good for the day. However, the next day I have to repeat the same steps. Any suggestions. There is fuel sitting in the glass bowl but does not seem that any is remaining in the carburetor. Any suggestions? Thank you

Sounds like fuel is leaking from the float bowl.

You don't mention the carburetor, but it could be a cracked bowl or if you are lucky, it may have a plug in it that is leaking like the Rochester Quadrajets (not likely as yours is almost certainly not a Quadrajet).

Float or floats, depending on your carb, can possibly be too low now. Today's fuel evaporates faster, so you need all you can get in the bowls to help prevent hard starting.

Im no mechanic. Im an engineer though and i like to troubleshoot. It could even be something as simple as the choke not working correctly. What kind of carb is it? When u pump the throttle do you see fuel squirting out from the accellerator pump? If it doesnt squirt out your bowls are probably leaking out. If it does, It could just be too lean when cold and you need to close the choke more for startup. If it is an older motor and the oil(on the dipstick) smells like gas you can be pretty darn sure fuel is leaking down into the cylinders when it is parked and sneaking past thr rings down into your oil. If this is the case i would get the issue fixed asap. Oil doesnt work very good with gas in it
