1939 Buick Model 40 Sedan from Thirlmere

I think I have worked out how to post stuff here. Let's see if this works.
I was asked to post pictures of my car.
I purchased this from the second owner from Murray Bridge, South Australia, in 2006.
He bought from the original owner in the early 40's. The original owner bought it after his horse won the Adelaide Cup in 1939.
The original colour was all Burgundy. The car was accident damaged in the early 1990's and was "supposedly" repaired by a "top body shop".
Unfortunately, it had a lot of "bog" (bondo filler) in it and an Acran 2 pack sprayed over the original paint.
So I had rust spots, pealing paint and badly fitting front sheet metal.
I had the "Black Cherry" paint colour added when we had the body on panels repaired.
This was done in 2011.
Since then I have replaced the front seats, engine, transmission, complete rear end and front brakes.
It now drives and stops beautifully. A real pleasure to drive.
