Bob knows more than most about specs but I can tell you fron my experience that the VIN on the tag on the firewall does not always match the number on the block. There is a number on the frame as well.
Buick did some strange things back in 52...don't know about your 41.
I am glad yours runs so well.
There is a VIN on the drivers door.

Neil, Buick did not match engine # to serial # in the straight eight days. Your car should have a 248 CI engine. If you will post the engine number, found on the block just in front of the distributor, and the serial number here or on your thread on the aaca buick forum, Sean will see it and answer some questions.
Ben
I will go and check the number and take your advice. My understanding is that the VIN number and the engine number are completely separate and do not match. The VIN number on my car is on the firewall. As I said, the data plate is missing. I believe the data plate would have had both the VIN number and the engine number on it, so that would have been a way to tell whether a car still had the original engine. I have no reason to think that my car has anything other than the original 248 ci engine.
