Sounds like your fuel pump has a broken diaphragm that is leaking gas into the crankcase when it is pumping

hello everyone!
im new to this forum, and i hope anybody can help me.
i am from germany, so please excuse me, if my english is wrong sometimes.
i bought a 1963 special sedan with the v6 engine and a 3 speed manual tranmission. the seller told me it stood in his barn since 16 years, and it doesnt start because of ignition problems. so i took it on a trailer and brought it home.
so when it tried starting it, it ran for about 2 mins very rough. there has been a noise (like knocking from valves.
so i checked the oil again, and it was much more than before i tried starting it. it smelled like fuel.
so when i removed the oil, it was mixed with fuel.
does anybody know what could be wrong?
and for the worst case of a broken engine: does anybody know which engine will fit the original transmission without big changes? do the 90s v6 engines fit?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! removed the fuel pump and the diaphragm was broken. took a can and let some fuel flow through a hose into the carburator. worked great.
Glad to have helped.
