    64' Skylark 225 to 66' 300??

    Hey guys, new to the site and Buick. Just have a question for now, will a 300 from a 66' Skylark bolt right into a 64' Skylark with a 225 v6? Both trannys are ST300. Thank you in advance, i tried the search but no definite answer on these particular years.

    a 225v6 IS a 300v8 ... it just has the front two cylinders knocked off.

    300 / 8 * 6 == 225

    the Buick 300 is, literally, the direct forefather of all of the Buick 90 degree v6 engines from 1964 on. it's where the Buick v6 gets it's deck height and it's why the Buick v6 doesn't match up ( deck height wise ) to any other Buick engine. 215ci / Rover is short deck, 300ci is mid deck and 340 / 350ci are tall deck.

    there may be some spacing issues with the components at the front of the engine compartment, given that it was designed for the shorter v6 ( fan shroud, etc ), but there shouldn't be any significant problems. the 4v 300ci WAS the 'sporty' engine option in the 1964 Skylark, after all.

    i'm expecting the 1966 engine is a 2 barrel carb and intake?

    you could probably also drop a Buick 350ci v8 in there without too much trouble, although that engine will be a little big taller and wider than the 300.

    the 225 and 300 will have the same bell housing.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the 300. Not looking to make this car a hot rod just want a little better sound.

    300 etc

    Make me an offer I can't refuse.
    I have a 1964 Aluminum head engine with Buick 4 barrel manifold.
    Need enough to motivate me to take it apart.
