    3885010 is the casting number for 1965-1967.

    P7M26
    P = Muncie
    7 = 1967 model year
    M = August
    26 = 26th
    (built August 26th 1966 for 1967 model year)

    Most of the numbers I've seen have been stamped on the sides.

    Hi Josh,

    I can confirm that the VIN will be stamped on the top of the transmission housing. I have a 67 GS 4 speed and that is where mine is. Good luck!

    Hey guys. I know it's been a while since I posted this thread, but I've found some new info on this topic & im wondering if what I have is good enough supporting documentation to prove this to be a 4 speed car. I have the protect o plate for the car with the date code P7M26 for a Muncie on it & the 4 speed Muncie on the car has the P7M26 stamped on it. Will this be proof enough for 4 speed documentation?

    WOW!!!! Thanks Buford. This is great info. Are we able to access all of this info in this site? Also I was able to find some pieces if a tag that was under the back seat that had been turned into pieces of a rats nest. Unfortunately after hours of sifting through a stinking mess of rat crap & whatever else was in there, plus the added time of piecing together an incomplete jigsaw puzzle this is all I could come up with. Any ideas on what kind of tag this is & what some of the numbers might mean. If you do know what tag it is do you have a similar example do I can see what I'm looking at?
    thanks again for all the great info.

    I also forgot to ask this, but did 1967 Buick GS 400 come with a M22 Muncie Rick crusher??? If so are there any exterior markings to signify this or will I have to pull the trans & look at the gears?
    thanks again,
    Josh

    That looks like the broadcast sheet. Best pic I have is one from 1965. I don't think the POP decoding info is available online, just from years of collecting data. More trans info here:
