Last 8 digits of the car serial number should match the engine serial number, so the engine has been replaced at some point.
Hi All,
I have a '65 Riviera that has the original Protect-O-Plate, the car was purchased from the original owner.
The engine in the car has a date code LT 219, while the PoP says T 540. Also, the engine serial does not match the VIN, its off by about 30,000, but I dont know if Buick stamped their engines to match the VIN or they were just stamped on their own and put into vehicles. The car's VIN is 947XXX, and the engine is 5H909XXX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Last 8 digits of the car serial number should match the engine serial number, so the engine has been replaced at some point.
