A missing paint code usually indicates it was ordered with a special paint color. The build sheet may have more details on the color that was used.
Hello. I am trying to figure out the paint code on my 69 Riviera. There are two dashes where the paint code is suppose to be on the data plate.
Also the color does not look to match the color chips for that year. I have pictures of this car when I owned it in the 80's with original paint.
All of the hidden areas, jambs, under fender lip trim, etc, are still very vivid in color and are not a match to the color chips. Can anyone offer any
knowledge on this?
Thanks in advance!!

I looked under the back seat today for the build sheet with no luck. Not real sure where the locations are on an old GM.

You may find the build sheets up under the front seats, under the carpet or maybe between the gas tank and the insulator. They seemed to be shoved anywhere they wont show.

Thank you Dr. Frankenbuick. I know that the carpet has been replaced and the tank was pulled at some point between '85 and now while it was out of my possession. If it was either one of those places it's probably long gone, but I will still check.

Take a look at the Cadillac colors. A Buick is much more likely to be upgraded to a Cadillac color, like a "firemist" color than downgraded to a Chevy shade. I have witnessed the exception to this in the "sporty" models, however. Like a Skylark ordered with a Corvette color. Good luck, very unusual car!

Thank you 1965rivgs. My Grandmother bought it New and gave it to me when I was 15 in 1983. One of the main things I remember, was her calling the paint color "Skipper Blue". Unfortunately there is no paint by that name in any close model. I traded the car in on a new truck in 1985 at a local dealership. The car disappeared until last month when i finally located it, VIN confirmed, and purchased it back 31 years later. It is in bad need of some TLC as it has sat for 20+ years now, but I will bring her back to life.
there's a Sapphire Blue Firemist:

i googled "skipper blue" but it looks like the only thing that comes up for that is Holden / GM Australia.
