how do you remove the heater blower switch in a 1949 Buick

Trying to remove my heater blower switch from my '49 Buick. I can't seem to separate the big chromed switch at the front from the switch mechanism. The other switches and gauges are relatively straightforward, but not this one. I'm stripping the dash for a paintjob.

    Cheers,

    Lloyd

My 52 has a small set screw on the bottom of knob, very hard to see or find.

Some of my switches do. They have a little hex-head grub screw, but not this one. Very strange!

OK. Now I'm embarrassed. It does have a grub screw as well. I just wasn't agile enough to see it (had to view it with my eyes looking from under the steering column.

yeah, this is a big American manufacturer. once they figure out a way to do something, they usually keep doing that over and over.
