beltline trim removal on a 1942 super sedanet

Hello, I had a 1947 Super model 56C , the molding on it was held on by a retainer that was screwed to the door, the molding itself has to be pried off of it.Do this with extreme care and a tool that is made for this , or the largest putty knife you can find,I also used rust penetrating oil,and started at lower edge of molding currently using same technic to remove quarter panel and rear belt moldings on 1949 super 56C. May also help if you can find a Fisher body manual for 47 Buick. Hope this helps, Goodman

also check to see if there are any screws or nuts at extreme ends of molding at inner edges of doors , some have a bolt at both ends of molding that have to be taken out first before prying it off.

Your welcome, The lower door moldings are bolted thru the panels if you take them off they can be accessed between the fender extension as there is space between under the door, the fender extension on quarter will Need to be taken off of car to get at, to remove extension there is 3 bolts at door opening and two attaching it to lower body panel.trim bolts are usually 3/8 or 7/16 if I remember correctly,go slowly as any of the body panel and trim are hard to find and specific to each body model.
