    hey guys i just bought my 2nd second 69 gs 400 i owned one way back when but loved it couldnt find it so i bought one in ga my question is the last 6 of the vin are 100305 is this a early model gs it was purchased in oct of 68

    The starting serial number at each plant for V8 cars was 100001, so 100305 is very low. The body tag located on the cowl will have a build date code below the trim code telling you the month and week in 1968 in which the car was built. The code will look something like 08B, which decodes as August (08) 1968, second week (B).

    44637 = Fisher body style number
    4 = Buick
    46 = GS 400
    37 = 2-door hardtop coupe

    FL1 = body built at Flint, MI
    2556 = sequential body (BDY) number, no relation to VIN

    TR = trim
    Trim 181 = Blue Vinyl with Bucket-Type Front Seats, available on styles 43437, 44437, 44637


    PNT = paint
    Paint code 5151 = solid Twilight Blue Metallic

    08D = body build date = August (08) 1968, fourth week (D)

    Thanks again Sean nice to know going to start rooting around hope it has a build sheet under the back seat or carpet might drop the tank if I don't see in back seat springs the front seats where recovered back a few years ago Soild old car it was under coated from the factory which am glad of thanks for your help I owe you one
