    Rear seal on 1963 Skylark 215 V8

1963 215 Rear seal leaking quite a bit, can I change with motor in car? Appreciate any reference or sharing of information. I put in the bars stop leak but have not seen an improvement.

Add a pint of dot 3 brake fluid to the oil & drive for a month then change the oil. If it works lots of time & $$$ saved. If it doesn't only a few $$$ for the fluid & NO time.

    Rear seal.

Hi, you have given some interesting advise there and also to me on another thread. Just wanted to thank you and to ask if this brake fluid idea might work on my 264 rear seal? Russ from car nailhead said you can't really use the rubber seals on these motor's also and you have to stick with the rope. Would you agree with that summation.Cheers Pete.

I have SUCCESSFULLY done it in the past. I just made an appointment to do one on a '54/264. We'll see how it turns out. As of the moment I've done three.

    Rear seal

Well hopefully you can tell us here how that went. I would be interested in purchasing the seal from you with some detailed instructions on how best to do the job. Would have you do it but I am in Australia. Thanks again cheers.
