    Super Turbine 400 Valve body

    Hi Folks,

rebuilding an "unknown" tranny, sold to me as a ST 400 (aka TH 400) I ran into a problem:

the valve body and case gaskets supplied with the 65 - up service kit won't fit.

I have attached pictures of my tranny together with a later TH 400 to show the difference: Notice the notch for the shift lever in the seperator plate (pink sticker).
The case on the late TH 400 does have a L-shaped passage where there are two rectangular holes in the ST 400 case. Also my tranny comes with only 4 check ***** instead of 6.
    Just three samples of differences.

Now I need help to find the correct gasketes or at least immages of them. My originals were completly destroyed and looking at the valve body, haven't been correct in the first place.
Also I suspect the pump gasket could be different to the one which I have in the kit.

    I'd appriciate any help.

    Ingo

More than likely it appears you have the ONE YEAR ONLY '64 TH400. The tag on the side of the case will identify it. Also the selector shaft has the arm for the linkage welded on as part of the selector shaft, whereas '65 & up the linkage hook-up is removable.

    Super Turbine 400 1964

    Thanks for the info:

Jepp, the shaft is welded on.

So this is what I was affraid of a one year only try and error unit ....

How are the chances to get footage, and / or parts ??

Would some kind of liquid sealer work on this ? But then: Why are some passageways not punched the size of thehole in the plate but just "drilled" with a smaller hole ?

Is the any BUICK wizzard out there, who can draw me a gasket from remembering ;-)
