    Buick 320 versus 248... external parts differences and parts needed

    Hi:

    I recently got myself a 1947 Buick Roadmaster sedanette. The car has an older reasonably well done restoration, except for a conversion to 12 volts (which I am going to switch back to 6 volts), the upholstery seat material (leather was used, which I don't know if it was an available option or not) and the engine itself, which was not painted in the correct blue.

    Anyhow... to the point. I want to make the engine look cosmetically correct and before that i need to complete it. My engine is missing a few components and I am curious to know if they are the same as in the 248 engine. I need:

    1. Spark plug area cover, the very long one one engraved with the Buick emblem and ignition order. Is it the same on the 320 as on the 248?

    2. Engine breather tube (on the right side of the engine, near the front). Is it the same between the 320 and the 248?

    3. Oil filter and tubing. Would it be the same?

    Anybody out there that might have some extra parts that could sell me?

    Thanks,
    victor

    Victor, congratulations on your Buick.
    To answer your questions;

    #1. No, the 320 engine is longer, therefor the spark plug cover is longer
    #2. Same answer.
    #3. The filter is probably the same. Tubing [piping] may work, but probably is longer for the 320.

    Thank you, Ben. I appreciate it.

    I hope someone may have some extra parts that could sell to me.

    Plug Wire Cover

    Bob's Automobilia has got the plug wire cover. http://bobsautomobilia.com/shop/moto....-spc-315.html Cars, Inc. - aka old buick parts is great http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/ The BCCA forum is a good source of info as well http://forums.aaca.org/f162/ Those covers show up on eBay fairly often.

    Thanks Master Cylinder. Very useful information! If Bob's Buick has it, that is where I will be getting it. On ebay they are sometimes more expensive, and CARS Inc is not my favorite company. I had a serious misunderstanding with them many moons ago and decided not to purchase from them any longer.
