69 skylark mistery light

hi mike here, I have a 1969 skylark and the rear bumper has a clear light facing rear above the tag. what is it supposed to be for?

That is one of your reverse lights, the other two are in the taillight housings.

That's one of the ways to tell a '68 from a '69 - the '68 does not have that extra reverse light.
