the only code i got was u0100 and from what i read that doesn't look good

why? online resources define that as "Lost Communication With Engine Control Module".

    Possible causes
    - Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
    - ECM harness is open or shorted
    - ECM circuit poor electrical connection

    Read more: http://engine-codes.com/u0100.html#ixzz3O55NRwji

that might not be anything more than reseating connectors, something we've been saying from the beginning.

even if the harness got mangled, there's a decent chance you can splice it back together. brush up on your soldering skills and use heat shrink. color coding is your friend.

if you've got multiple wires the same color code, go to the dealer and ask them to photocopy a wiring diagram for you. then you have to get out a multimeter and match pinouts from each connector.

worst case, you go to a junk yard and pull a 'new to you' ECM. pulling the harness would be a pain in the *** ( probably have to dismantle half the car the way they build stuff nowadays ), but get your practice in at the junk yard ( take lots of pictures with your phone ) and your car shouldn't be too bad.

just lots of elbow grease involved.

    Ok well update.
I have unplugged almost everything i can find and reseated it still can't get car to start checked all fuse's

What i do find is where the plug plugs in to the transmission there is a clicking sound is that normal. Car still will not turn over. I turned the ignition on and crossed the starter and all it does is spin but doesn't engage

auto transmissions have a Park/Neutral interlock that will prevent starting if you are not in P or N.

however, i don't think this would be causing your ECM issue.

i'm assuming you don't hear the starter spinning up when you use the key?

failure of the starter to engage the torque convertor is usually what is called a "Bendix failure". the Bendix is the magnetic motor that throws the starter gear into position to engage the teeth on the TC.

You didn't cross the correct wires. It will go from the battery stud to a smaller wire. Cross those two & it should at least crank.

The engine will not run as long as the ECM is not communicating, loss of communication usually means it is NOT powered up. Have ALL fuses been checked? Get a schematic of the ECM wiring and check for power supply when keyed on.

Update took car to a guy yesterday. Had two problems. 1st his snap-on code reader would only go as far as a 2013. 2nd was we tried to check it as a 2013 and by that time battery was dead so that tells me something is sucking the life out of the battery.

Does anyone know if there is a time limit on how long this car can go without a battery before it loses information or if this is even possible for this car
