Installing the 430 requires the same parts as the factory GS cars with a 455 in 72: most necessary parts are reproduced.
I own a 72 Skylark convertible. The car has been in my family for the past 33ish years. Pops just passed it down to me. It has the original motor we tweaked a bit about 13 years ago. Need to redo a lot on her. I have a 430 I'm researching the options on what to do. Definitely a lot more options than the 350. Found this forum while researching. Lots of good info here. Bye for now.

the 430s are pretty good motors ... but it's not that hard to get ahold of a 455.
the best reason to stay with a 430 is if you're going to keep it mostly stock. many of the 455s are low compression, smog motors so a stock hi-comp 430 will often outrun a stock mid-70s 455.
if you're going to be doing a lot of mods to the engine though, it's tough giving up 25 cubes for no particular reason.
