    1941 buick special 248 ci

    I have this engine code stamped on the block (was behind my oil filter housing ) 4 space 4I88434 . I am wondering about the the motor being original because I am tearing into it and have to make sure all the ducks are in a row . Thank you for any help

    4 or A = Series 40/Special (see below)
    4188434 = sequential number, range for 1941 was 4,074,859 to 4,457,940


    The first digit might be an A which was Fisher series 4200 or Buick models 44, 44C, 44S, and 47 (118 inch wheelbase). Your data plate on the passenger side cowl under the hood will have more info, so post that if you can. If the first digit is a 4, then it is for Fisher series 4400 or Buick models 41, 41SE, 46, 46S, and 46SSE (121 inch wheelbase).
