1967 Buick Special 340-4 Intake Manifold

So I know they don't make them anymore. I was wondering if anyone had any leads on them? I need to replace mine. Also does anyone know of swapping the 340 out for a 350?

This is a fairly common swap because of the relative scarcity of 340 engines. Parts availability is much better for the 350, especially if you are planning on performance upgrades. The mounts and bellhousing pattern are the same as the 340, but you may need to do some work on the exhaust.

Do you know by chance is a 1972 sbc 350 4bolt L48 engine would fit in the Buick? This is my first time restoring/ swapping an engine.

Do you know by chance if a 1972 sbc 350 4bolt L48 engine will fit in the 67 Buick? I think im going to go with an engine swap.

    yes, it will fit.

i think you're going to have to rewire everything though. iirc, everything on the Chevy ( distro, starter, etc ) is backwards to the Buick. it will also likely need a different transmission as the Buick 340 uses the BOPC pattern.

that's why Ray was talking about the trans bell, the Buick 350 ( which is extremely different from a Chevy 350 ) will bolt right up to it.

also, expect the Chevy engine to be ~200lbs heavier. you may need stronger front springs or maybe you'll like the rake.

i expect olds parts availability on the islands is pretty scarce, so i understand your desire to put a Chevy in it. have you considered a mid-80s Buick turbo 231? the Buick v6 is a short deck Buick v8 with the front 2 cylinders knocked off. all the ease of swap of a Buick 350, possibly more of them around?

also, keep an eye out on the classifieds here and on the parts for sale sections of the AACA forums and such.

Bob, when Wayner said 350, I just automatically assumed that he meant a Buick 350. It never occurred to me that he might be asking about a Chevy.

well, he did clarify in subsequent posts.

this is actually a bad habit we have on the Buick boards, defaulting to 'Buick' 350. the Chevy is so ubiquitous that anytime someone asks about 350 we should ALWAYS clarify brand. there are four different GM 350s ( and three different 455s ), after all.

    1972 sbc 350 4bolt L48 engine

For some reason my posts are not posting, the engine I found was a 1972 sbc 350 4bolt L48 engine. Thanks for all the information.
